About the site

Collective Action is an events database aimed at activists, conscious consumers and the community. The database connects people to political campaigns and protests, community events and ethically conscious lifestyle options. You can use this site to find or promote political, community & cultural events and keep an eye on issues as they develop.

Events are hand-picked for relevance to the priorities:

  1. Political
  2. Community
  3. Cultural

Politics today is as much about the individual lifestyle choices made on a daily basis as it is about government revolution- many of the choices are in our hands. We are becoming more aware that our public and private behaviours have political dimensions. Collective Action helps you to find ways to express your values not only through direct action events or community consultations but through the plethora of events which intrinsically imply a politics, whether that is a local farmers’ market or an exhibition of refugee keepsakes.

You don't have to be an event organiser (just as supporter or interested party) to submit an event and it is free. All events are approved for their fit with the criteria of the site and checked for corrections (within limits). So whether you are a community worker wanting to promote your next event or an advocate wanting to publicise a campaign CollectiveAction.com.au is the site for you.

Use the QR code for easy access to the event data on your way out the door if you have a Smartphone. Wider accessibility and access will be added in coming weeks as time permits. Send feedback to collective_action@hotmail.com with FEEDBACK in the header or follow us on Twitter @collectiveact.

Event Submission Guidelines

The database is put together with an eye to maintaining a particular balance of events which requires that discretion over which events will be accepted for publication lies with the site owners/editors. First priority for event postings go to political events (eg rallies, protest events, email campaigns etc). Second priority goes to community or education events (eg community education event for cancer, conferences etc). Third priority goes to cultural events which includes festivals, conventions, concerts etc.

All events are checked and approved prior to publication on the database within commonsense constraints. While political issue or opinion is not a criteria for inclusion/exclusion, events will not be posted if they look to contravene discrimination or other laws or do not fit into the balance of priorities.
